History

This dance studio was founded in 1966. The director, Tracy Everitt, directs programs of dance in NYC and at several local sites. They include courses in ballroom, Latin, wedding dances, jazz, tap dance and other forms of dance. He is a New York based professional as well, splitting his time between New York and Hoboken.

The civic supported Continuing Educational Programs for Adults at Hoboken High School have him as their chief instructor and there are numerous well known institutions in Hoboken utilizing his dance services. UBSPaineWebber, Liz Claiborne, the New York Athletic Club on 58th Street in NYC, and other corporations have employed Mr. Everitt on sites for their employees. You may see Tracy Everitt perform on national TV every Christmas Eve on Disney channel, a show which he choreographed for Judy Garland, entitled the "The Judy Garland Christmas Show". This is in the National Treasures Archives in Washington, DC.

If you research Broadway show casts, you will find Tracy Everitt listed in several original Broadway casts, including such well known hit shows as "West Side Story", "How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying", "Bye Bye Birdie", etc. He also has been the teacher and choreographer for Liza Minnelli and other Hollywood celebrities. We are sure you will receive the same caring and friendly teaching as his previous students, no matter what level you are.

You will find local former students whom he has trained to dance (and also to teach) are the hosts in very popular local bars and taverns such as "Frankie and Johnny`s", "Wille McBrides", etc.

If you are interested in taking "Wedding Dancing" which is a synonym for social dancing or ballroom, you will find many types of dance in that course, all of which are suitable for a wedding. "Ballroom" is the category to look under for "wedding dances". The most practical types of dance to learn for wedding affairs are Fox-Trot and Swing Dancing.

By e-mailing the address below or calling 201-653-2522 and leaving your name and number, you will receive a return call on questions on any dance-related things that may occur to you, including dance shoes, where to go out dancing, etc. You can also see our cancellation policies below for private or group lessons, as well as the policy for taking make-up classes.

Want free lessons in all classes?
If you have taken courses before and registered in the past, we can take you in a whole course for free, males or females, into any classes which may need extra singles to balance out the ratios of male versus females or vice versa. This happens often and we put out a bulletin offering this opportunity, but please always stay in touch to ask us if we are in need of "extra" students every month.

(I) When to Start

If you are starting at the beginning of any of the 4-week courses running Tuesday through Saturday, it is preferable for us if you could notify us earlier than the starting 1st class. However, you actually can walk in without notifying us and start the same day it begins or even join in as late as the 2nd or 3rd lesson in the 4-week courses under certain conditions (see conditional rules below on "late-comers" for that case).

* Pre-planning for an appointment for a private lesson can be done by email, by phone, or in person. However, the finalization for a set time must be phoned in at 201-653-2522 and speaking to the director Tracy Everitt. After that, e-mails can be exchanged for confirmation.

(II) Accommodations for Late-Comers

It is not absolutely necessary that you start exactly on the 1st week of a 4-week course. In fact, you may be able to take a choice of "catch-up" classes.

Here are two possibilities to catch up:
(a) Either you may take a single one-on-one private lesson (with or without a partner) before you start with your group, or, if it is available, you may take a "catch-up" 1/2 hr. class with a semi-private group just before the assigned regular class hour. Either way, we guarantee that you will totally catch up and can join in with the group even if you miss the first 2 weeks of a 4-week course. In the case of the "catch-up" with a semi-private, you simply count the "catch-up" as one of your group lessons.

(b) You must notify us at least one day ahead when you intend to take the "catch-up" semi-private because it is not always given, due to many factors including class size and availability of space. The one-on-one is set and arranged to meet your convenience, of course.
