Class Overview , Registration for Group or Private Lessons, and Rates

  • (a) Private Lesson
    $85 for 1 hr private
Single Class Rate (available only to formerly registered students of good standing, and only one couple per course); $20.00 per person per class.

  • (b) Group Courses
    • $15 "ONE-TIME-ONLY" registration fee
    • $70 for a 4-week course

  • (c) Wedding Package
This is $320- for 4 private lesson hours. Please be aware of that there is no refund in wedding packages.

  • (d) Semi-Private
Group rates vary according to number of people in a class. The rates have three levels; groups of from 3 to 4 people OR groups of 5 to 6 people OR normal group rates for from 7 people or more.
As a bonus, please notice that rates drop as groups continue studying. The rates below are for the first month of study, only. If a group continues onward to a 2nd month of study, their rates drop very considerably because they are under rates for "special privilege" groups.
    Rates:
    • Classes of 3-4 people must pay among themselves a total of $100.00 for the class (i.e the rate is $25 each for groups of 4 people and $33 each for groups of 3 people).
    • Classes of 5 and 6 people will pay $20 a per person for the class. The monthly rate does not apply.
    • Classes of 7 people which are to remain semi-private and therefore are not open to including the general public with their members, can have a choice of a monthly rate or not. If they choose to take by the single class rate, they will pay the single class rate of $20 a person. If they pay for 4 lessons in advance on a monthly rate, they will pay $ 70 a month per person, saving $10 per person over the month. In this category of SEMI-PRIVATE GROUP CLASS, no missed classes may be refunded or taken in a make-up. A weekly decision by the whole group will be made during a class toward choosing a date for the next class. To cancel a lesson, a group leader will have a  window of 24 hours to give Mr. Everitt verbal phone. No parties from the class other than the group leader may make this cancellation. No members of the group who miss a class are entitled to credit or refund or transfer of the class to another person to take it for them or to have credit for a make-up class.

    (e) "Special-privilege" seniority rates
Small size (i.e. from 3 to 6 people) groups of students who have already had courses with the Ballroom Dance Center of Hoboken under Mr. Everitt's tutelage will be favored, receive discounts for future lessons, and known as the "special-privilege" groups. They include anyone who completes the following courses:
    • Beginner month in Level 1
    • Beginner month in Level 2
    • Continued on to Level 3 and intermediate

These students will pay a lower rate than the normal semi-private rate which are:

    • Groups of 3 or 4 pay $80 per month a person, as opposed to $100 regular charge per person!
    • Groups of 5 or 6 pay $70 per month a person, as opposed to $80 regular charge per person!
    • Single class rates instead of monthly rates for these "special privilege" groups are the equivalent of 25% of the rates given, except a $1.00 per person surcharge is added.
There are additional special ways of discounts allowed for other situations, as well, for these highly valued returning students in this category.
An individual group class is $20.00

Please call us at 201-653-2522 for our most current rates!

Cancellation Policies

The following policies apply for private or group classes if a student decides to cancel on the same day as their pre-arranged appointment
  • (a) Private
All private lessons are required to cancel ( by phone or in person only and not by email) at least 24 hours prior to an assigned date, regardless of conditions. Matters related to personal or work schedule problems, medical appointments, family matters, travel problems, etc. are not allowed for requesting a refund or a make-up more than once. After that, it is up to the teacher as to whether any discretion should be allowed for future missed classes without a 24-hour notice. Payments for missed lessons without a 24-hour notice are mandatory after the 2nd missed class without notice.
  • (b)Group - Missed Classes and Make-Up Classes
The same rules for "missing a class" apply as above in private class. In addition, the policy regarding "missed classes" is as follows; if a student misses any of the 4-week course classes, he or she must take their make-up classes within the prescribed 4-week period of their course by taking classes twice a week at some point, if possible* (see conditions below.) They must take any class in any style of dance which is available for their make-up even though it may not be the same type, as long as it is within the skill level. For example if a beginner is taking beginner Tango and misses, and no other duplicate Tango beginner class is held in that course, then they must choose between a beginner level Swing, or Ballroom, or Salsa. We guarantee that the student will improve their skills within the course they chose by also taking any other style.

    * If there are no classes happening simultaneously in the same time period in the skill level, then a student may have a "rain check" for their missed class, and take the class in either the next 4-week period with next month (the "follow-up course" of their own class course), or they may have a refund for one class if there is not to be a follow-up course or another same level class to begin within the upcoming two months.

The student may not receive a refund for more than one class per 4-week course: if he or she misses more than one class, they may not receive an automatic 2nd free make-up class.

We very strongly advise to take make-ups in ANY style you can! Those who do take other styles than the one they are already taking always improve more than other students, and even more important, their dance awareness grows GREATLY.

If someone's partner cannot come on any given night, and the single person wants to come without them, they really should. That is customary.
